Shortly after, he focused on alternative cropping systems such as aeroponic, aquaponic, and hydroponic systems for sustainable agriculture in Hawaii. Later, he obtained a master's degree in Tropical Plant Pathology from the University of Hawaii at Manoa where he researched enhancment of basil downy mildew disease resistance in sweet basil through CRISPR/Cas9 gene editing technology. Jeremieh is currently pursuing a PhD in Tropical Plant Pathology where his research focuses on establishing easy and efficient genetic engineering tools in papaya - enabling further exploration of gene networks and plant-microbe interactions.
