Graduate Research Assistant
UNC Chapel Hill
Durham, North Carolina
I am from Little Rock, Arkansas where I lived until moving for my undergrad in Plant Biology at the University of Oklahoma which I finished in 2018. During that time I worked in the labs of Dr. Sharon Kessler and Dr. Ben Holt studying Arabidopsis. I moved to North Carolina for my PhD at UNC Chapel Hill where I work in Dr. Zachary Nimchuk's lab. In the Nimchuk lab we study roles of CLE peptide ligands and their different receptors in several aspects of plant development and environmental responses. Since joining the Nimchuk lab I have mainly focused on new developmental roles for these peptides and their receptors. When I'm not in the lab or isolating at home I love making the best of Chapel Hill's perfect location situated 2.5 hours from the beach in one direction and 2.5 hours from the mountains in the other.
