Cynthia Holland is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biology at Williams College, where she and a team of talented undergraduate students are investigating the biochemical basis of the evolution of specialized metabolism in plants. After completing her graduate work in the lab of Joe Jez at Washington University in St. Louis studying aromatic amino acid synthesis, she moved into specialized metabolism for her post-doc in Georg Jander's lab at the Boyce Thompson Institute. Research in the Holland lab centers around how plants balance primary and specialized metabolism and involves enzymes from both model and non-model plants, including wormseed wallflower.
