I am a graduate student in the Cellular and Molecular Biology (CMB) PhD program at UW Madison. I work in with Edgar Spalding, where I am interested in developing image analysis software that implements machine learning to answer interesting questions related to plant biology. I am currently working on an automated machine vision tool that implements a learning-based segmentation method to perform kinematics analysis on growing Arabidopsis seedlings. I plan on using this tool to gain insight on where the blue light-sensing phytochrome CRY1 inhibits hypocotyl growth during photomorphogensis.
