Burcu Alptekin, Ph.D. is a postdoctoral research associate at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She received her Ph.D. from Montana State University in Plant Genetics. She is a broadly trained plant molecular biologist and geneticist aiming to increase crop resilience against abiotic stresses, particularly drought. Her approaches include understanding the mechanisms of plant stress response at the molecular level and leveraging this knowledge to improve crops' stress tolerance, particularly small grains, through molecular breeding, genome editing, and symbiosis with beneficial microbes.
