Kelsey Carter is a postdoctoral researcher at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. She is a plant physiologist specializing in studying plant responses to environmental stress, especially temperature and drought. Dr. Carter uses both field- and laboratory-based techniques to better understand how both managed and unmanaged systems are influenced by climate change. Prior to joining ORNL, Dr. Carter conducted three years of postdoctoral research at Los Alamos National Laboratory investigating plant-microbial interactions and using microbial communities to alleviate plant drought stress. She earned her MSc and PhD at Michigan Technological University in Applied Ecology (2017) and Forest Science (2019), respectively. She gained her BS from The University of Tennessee in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology in 2012.
