My name is Isabel Johnson, a first-year PhD student in Maheshi Dassanayake's lab at Louisiana State University. I'm interested in how plants sequester and use nutrients while growing in low-nutrient and high-salt environments. I am studying two halophyte species: Schrenkiella parvula and Eutrema salsugineum and using transcriptomics to further understand the underlying mechanisms of how these two halophytes uptake phosphorus in high-salt and low-phosphorus conditions. I graduated from Ohio Wesleyan University with a bachelor's degree in Botany and Environmental Science.
