I'm a postdoctoral research associate at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. My research aims to improve the photosynthetic capacity and productivity of C4 bioenergy grasses, such as energycane and sugarcane, by engineering the C4 photosynthetic pathway. I am also the research data manager for the RIPE project, creating and implementing the Database Management Plan and platform to facilitate the storage, preservation, and distribution of research data. I have a BSc. in Biotechnology from the University Malaysia Sabah (Malaysia) and completed the Erasmus Mundus Masters in Forensic Science program in Spain, Portugal and the UK. I did my Ph.D. in Plant Sciences at the University of Cambridge (UK) studying the carbon concentrating mechanism (CCM) in Chlamydomonas reinhardtii. My work was published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS), the Plant Journal, Nature Communications and Plant and Cell Physiology. I'm fascinated by CCMs in algae and plants!
