I am currently a Ph.D. student in the Biological Sciences department, at Louisiana State University. My research interest, as a scientist, is to create abiotic stress-tolerant plants. I am eager to use molecular biology techniques like CRISPR/Cas9 and Agrobacterium transformation to make transgenic/gene-edited lines with salt tolerance traits to learn behind mechanisms making some plants become halophytes. In order to understand why some plants can thrive in high salinity, but others cannot, I am currently working with two research model plants: Arabidopsis thaliana which is a salt-sensitive model, and a salt-tolerant model Schrenkiella parvula.
