Post-Doctoral Associate
Oak Ridge National Lab
Oak Ridge, Tennessee
Dr. Liu earned his Ph. D. in Plant Biology from Iowa State University in 2018. While conducting doctoral research on the molecular mechanisms that control the tillering of switchgrass, he established the CRISPR/Cas9-based genome editing platform for switchgrass. After graduating, he continued his research on genome editing in monocots as a postdoctoral research associate at University of Minnesota. For three years, he studied applying developmental regulators and RNA-virus for tissue-culture free genome editing in monocots.
Currently, Dr. Yang Liu is a post-doctoral associate in the Biosciences Division at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. He is currently working on genome engineering, synthetic biology, and plant biodesign research related projects including development of Populus stable transformation, application of CRISPR gene editing in poplar, development of biosensors for monitoring microbial signals, and engineering plants to regulate the establishment of microbial invaders.
