I am currently a postdoctoral researcher with the Center for Bioenergy Innovation and Laura Bartley's lab at WSU as part of the switchgrass domestication team. My current collaboration project is to create a switchgrass gene expression database with computational biology CBI members. I am interested in the connection of anatomy, physiology, cell wall composition and ecotype diversity of switchgrass that occurs across environments in the endeavor of improving the efficiency of biomass deconstruction for the production of biofuels. Connectiong variable anatomical architecture traits with cell wall composition and digestibility are prominant sections of my research. On a broader scale, I am interested in the genetic drivers of phenotypic diversity in response to unique environments and the potential applications within agriculture. Towards this end, I plan to focus on extremophiles, including carnivorous plants.
