I am a Horticultural Sciences Master's student at the University of Florida, where I also completed my Bachelor's in Plant Science with a focus in Breeding and Genetics. I am presenting a project in which we identified a QTL for internal white tissue disorder in ripe tomato fruits, and I am also working on a CRISPR/Cas9 knockout of a 4 gene Aromatic Amino acid Decarboxylase cluster to determine their function in the production of phenylalanine derived VOCs and their role in tomato fruit flavor. I am hoping to continue my education after my Master's, and I am interested in learning more about the integration of marker assisted selection, whole genome prediction, molecular biology, and high throughput phenotyping and leveraging their combined functions to facilitate crop breeding. ASPB 2023 is my first plant science conference, and I am excited to meet and learn from other professionals in the field!
