Luis Lightbourn PhD is an expert in plant molecular biology and microbial biotechnology. He is founder and president of the Lightbourn Research Institute. During his professional life he has made important advances in the sustainable development of plant nutrition through nanotechnology applications. Lightbourn has made important contributions on molecular signaling involved in plant development and stress response mechanisms, mainly involving heterotrimeric G proteins and some secondary metabolites. Currently, he is leading research work focused on recovering the productive potential of degraded soils through the use of beneficial microorganisms and synthetic biology.
