Professor and group leader
University of Tartu, Estonia
Tartu, Tartumaa, Estonia
Hannes Kollist is as a professor of Molecular Plant Biology and PI of Plant Signal Research Group at the University of Tartu, Estonia. His research focuses on plant stomatal regulation with particular focus on mechanisms controlling stomatal movements in response to changes in the environment. His groups is a pioneer in developing multi-cuvette gas exchange systems for analyzing intact plant gas exchange in various conditions which were instrumental for identification of guard cell anion channel SLAC1. He has identified mechanisms through which mitogen activated protein kinases control stomatal aperture in response to elevated atmospheric CO2. Jointly with its University he formed a company PlantInvent to provide multi-cuvette systems for plant gas exchange analysis. He is leading Estonian Research Roadmap project to build infrastrcutures for plant Phenotyping in Estonia.
