Graduate Student
University of Iowa
Kelley is an avid fern biologist and PhD candidate in the University of Iowa Integrated Biology program, studying fern reproductive development in the model fern Ceratopteris richardii under the supervision of Dr. Chi-Lien Cheng. She received her B.S. in Biochemistry-Biology from Purdue University and completed honors thesis research in the lab of Dr. Jody Banks studying the role of a glutathione S-transferase in arsenic hypertolerance and accumulation in the fern Pteris vittata. Her interests include high-throughput phenotyping via image processing, evolution and development of receptor-signaling peptide families, and phytoremediation. When she's not in the lab, Kelley enjoys nature photography, digital art, and reading fiction.
