Passionate about plant science, I have spent the past years focusing on micro-algae unraveling what these organisms can offer us to solve challenges that we are facing. During my PhD, I studied the synthesis of hydrocarbons in the model algae Chlamydomonas reinhardtii to understand both its biotechnological potential and its physiological role. I switch field as I joined Ellen Yeh's group at Stanford University. I now study an endosymbiosis that comprises a diatom and a nitrogen fixing cyanobacteria. This system is a very good model to study evolution of organelles as well as integration of nitrogen fixation into eukaryotic photosynthetic cells. On top of my research interest, I enjoy communicating science with peers and broader audiences and joined last year the Plant Cell journal as an assistant features editor.
