Aruna Kilaru is Associate Professor, Biological Sciences at East Tennessee State University, USA. She earned her B.Sc. (Biology and Chemistry) from Andhra University and M.Sc. (Biotechnology) from Maharaja Sayajirao University, India. Her Ph.D. in Environmental and Evolutionary Biology (2005), was from University of Louisiana at Lafayette, USA, under the guidance of Prof. Hasenstein. Dr. Kilaru pursued post-doctoral research with Prof. Chapman at University of North Texas (2005-09) and Prof. John Ohlrogge at Michigan State University (2009-11). Kilaru's research interests are in lipid synthesis and signaling in plants, including understanding the significance of N-acylethanolamines, bioactive lipids, and regulation and synthesis of triacylglycerols. Dr. Kilaru is recipient of ‘Arthur C. Neish Young Investigator Award’ from the Phytochemical Society of North America and "Women’s Young Investigator Travel Award' from the American Society of Plant Biologists (ASPB). Kilaru is an ASPB member since 2001 and currently serves as the Chair for the Southern Section.
