PhD Candidate
University of Calgary
Calgary, Alberta, Canada
I am a Ph.D. student in Plant Molecular Developmental Biology at the University of Calgary, where I have received my Bachelor of Sciences (Honours) degree in Plant Biology. I have been active within academic research for 6 years, 2 years as an undergraduate and 4 years as a graduate student in the Dr. Marcus Samuel Lab. Along with my thesis work, I am also the acting lab manager for the Samuel lab and I am the University of Calgary's Department of Biological Sciences Graduate student President. My main research interests are plant cellular + molecular biology, plant biotechnology, gene editing, histology, and plant anatomy/development with my main focus being plant cellular development and secondary cell wall metabolism in Arabidopsis and Canola. I hope to be able to use my scientific knowledge and background to help bridge the gap between science and the public.
