Yongjian Qiu obtained his B.S. degree from the University of Science & Technology of China and his Ph.D. from Washington State University. He was trained as a Postdoctoral Associate in Dr. Meng Chen's lab at Duke University and as an Assistant Project Scientist in the same lab at the University of California-Riverside. He is currently an Assistant Professor of Integrative Plant Biologist in the Department of Biology at the University of Mississippi. His research focuses on using genetic, molecular biology, biochemical, and cell biology methods to gain insights into the temperature responses in plants. He is particularly interested in understanding the transcriptional networks in plant morphological changes to moderately increased, non-stressful temperatures. Recently, his work is focused on unraveling the molecular mechanisms by which key thermosensory transcription factors recruit the Mediator complex of RNA polymerase II to promote plant thermomorphogenesis.
