Mark Johnson is an associate professor at Brown University where he started the Pollen Genetics Lab in 2004. The goal of the lab is to understand the molecular basis of flowering plant reproduction by focusing on interactions between the pollen tube and pistil. Their work has focused on signaling that results in sperm release from the pollen tube and on sperm : female gamete fusion in Arabidopsis. More recently, the group has turned its attention to how temperature affects plant reproduction, using tomato as a model system.
