Giulia Ave Bono graduated in 2020 in Molecular Biotechnology and Bioinformatics master's degree at the University of Milan, with the thesis "Molecular analysis of OsFT-L1, a florigen-like protein controlling reproductive development of rice”. She continued her studies about rice inflorescence development thanks to a fellowship won at the beginning of 2021. In October she started her PhD in Molecular Biology of the Cell in Milan, under the supervision of Prof. Fabio Fornara. In May 2022 she has been selected for a talk during "Workshop on Molecular Mechanisms Controling Flowering" in Alicante (Spain).
She has contributed to the publication "Two florigens and a florigen-like protein form a triple regulatory module at the shoot apical meristem to promote reproductive transitions in rice" by Giaume et al. on Nature Plants in 2023, of which she wrote a research briefing.
