Research Scientist
Donald Danforth Plant Science Center
Saint Louis, Missouri
Peng is a research scientist working in the Slotkin lab at the Donald Danforth Plant Science Center. His current research focuses on the development of genome editing technology in plants. He earned his Ph.D. in Plant Molecular and Cellular Biology at the University of Florida. Under the supervision of Karen Koch, Peng studied carbon partitioning in maize kernels. He also worked on transposable element (TE)-based mutagenesis to create maize mutants. This interest in TEs led him to join Slotkin lab after graduation, where he is mixing his interests in TEs, abiotic stress regulation and genome editing. Peng is also serving as Assistant Features Editor for The Plant Cell, as well as a co-chair of the Committee for Scientific Training and Mentoring at the Donald Danforth Plant Science Center.
