I am a plant molecular biologist focused on the study of plant-biotic interactions. My interest in this research area stems from an undergraduate summer project exploring long-lasting protection of tomato fruit against grey mould. Following the completion of my biology undergraduate degree at the University of Sheffield in 2016, I began a PhD on the same topic area. Funded by the Research Council of Norway and split between the laboratory groups of Prof. Jurriaan Ton (University of Sheffield) and Dr Melissa Magerøy (Norwegian Institute of Bioeconomy Research), my PhD focused on understanding the mechanisms underpinning long-lasting jasmonate induced resistance in Norway spruce and Arabidopsis. Currently, I am a post-doc on a project titled ‘Healthy soil, Healthy food and Healthy people’ (H3) which is focused on transforming the UK food system (https://h3.ac.uk/). Specifically, I am exploring the use of synthetic microbial communities for improving the sustainability and resilience of hydroponic agriculture.
