Dr Alice Fornasiero is a postdoc in the Rod Wing Lab in the Centre for Desert Agriculture at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST, Saudi Arabia).
Her research is focused on rice genomics and population genetics. She is currently leading the project: IOMAP: The Americas, which follows the footsteps of the International Oryza Map Alignment Project to investigate present and historic genetic diversity found in wild relatives of rice endemic to North, Central, and South America.
The main goal of her research is the characterization of wild rice populations to find suitable candidates for the neodomestication and promote conservation of the biodiversity.
