I am Dr. Cheng-Husn Ho and am doing my own research as PI in ABRC, Academia Sinica, Taiwan since 2015, focusing on understanding nitrogen nutrition in plants, specifically the regulation of nitrate, ammonium, and peptide uptake, and try to identify the elusive non-specific action channel, work on membrane protein interactions and try to identify the network that control and crosstalk with nutrition. The overall goal of the project is to lay the basis for improving nutrient efficiency in plants for a more sustainable agriculture. Recently,my group have successfully engineered the first FRET-based nitrate sensor, NitraMeter3.0, which can monitor the nitrate dynamics in vivo and provide the opportunity to measure metabolic flux at the interface of cellular uptake and metabolism in intact organs at cellular and subcellular resolution. The manuscript was published and selected as cover story feature by Science Advances in 2022.
