Dr. Margaret Young is a tenured Associate Professor of Biology at ECSU, NC (part of the UNC system). She teaches courses in General Botany, Molecular Biology, and Applied Statistics. She served as the Director of Undergraduate Research for over 8 years. She has received several grants to improve the teaching of plant sciences and molecular biology. She has maintained an active research lab and has mentored over 25 undergrad students (graduates have completed professional or graduate studies).
She is a member of the Board of Port Discover (youth science); and mentors online high school biology students (Planting Science; Botanical Society of America). She has a BS in Chemistry and Botany, a MPhil in Botany (plant genetics) from UWI, Mona; and a PhD in Horticulture (plant molecular biology) from Mississippi State University. She also taught high school biology for six years in Jamaica.
