The Plant Cell Atlas (PCA) Research Coordination Network (RCN) is a global community of diverse scientists working towards the common goal of developing a comprehensive map of the cellular and subcellular expression, localization, and interaction of macromolecules in plant cells. This community will integrate multiple data types to generate testable models and quantitatively define the identities and functions of plant cell types. To develop and strengthen this community, the PCA RCN hosts numerous virtual workshops and symposia on the science and technology required to build this map, including single-cell sequencing, multiplex microscopy, and spatial proteomics and metabolomics. Recognizing the need of a diverse workforce to implement this vision, the PCA RCN is also dedicated to improving diversity in plant science through an annual travel award to Plant Biology conferences, an international mentorship program in partnership with the JR Biotek Foundation, traveling art exhibits, and career development and training opportunities within the community.
